Different families theories

According to the online dictionary definition, a theory is a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained. it gathers sometimes many facts to help us understand or even get closer to understanding why things are and how they are. A theory looks for answers and is an essential approach when we want to advance in our part with the surety of making the right choices in the world we live in. Seeing that it is important to make theories before taking decisions, let us consider the implementation of the act in our quest of establishing a good family.

When it comes to family, a theory is made out of the interrelatedness of factors, including the influence of one member's behavior upon another. It also takes into count the family system individuals live in and the impact of the trends we talked about in the previous article on their environment. With that in mind, let's spot the different theories in families. In the book, "The Family as a Psychosocial System", we were able to bring out four major theories which are: The symbolic interaction theory; the conflict theory; the general ecologic theory, and the exchange theory.

Today, we will not accentuate our efforts to explain all of the theories cited above, however, let us draw our minds to the exchange theory which is for me the broad theory among the four in the family. The exchange theory assumes that people will seek to maximize their profits by seeking rewards and avoiding punishments. It also assumes that behavior that results in a reward is likely to be repeated, and the reward over time will have less value when repeated. this theory implies that family members will have untold rules that will be practiced over and over. And the effect of that behavior can be at length the basic foundations of the family.  we should not think that it is not beneficial to have that happen in a relationship, however, when issues arise and it is handled in a wise manner by couples that communicate, it strengthens the family.
